A Certificate of Title is proof of ownership in Florida. When a motor vehicle, mobile home or boat is sold, a new Certificate of Title must be issued in the purchaser’s name. All vehicles are required to be titled, except mopeds, motorized bicycles and trailers weighing less than 2,000 lbs.
To change your vehicle title, you will need
- Complete form: Application for Certificate of Motor Vehicle Title
- Section 8: For a smoother in-office experience, we recommend completing this section in advance.
- Proof of valid Florida car insurance
- Valid passport, driver license
- Completed and signed bill of sale/dealer invoice
- Proof of sales tax paid if owned less than 6 months
- If out of state, Out-of-state title certificate
